Sunset glows on Cathedral Rock casting a beautiful reflection in a small pool of water in a depression on the slice rock. I had seen through Google searches images of the Cathedral Rock reflecting in water. Using Google Maps I attempted to locate the slick rock area where these images were from. My recon showed a slick rock area on the North side of Oak Creek around 1,189 feet Eastward from the Crescent Moon Picnic Site shot that I wanted as my first image. What I didn’t realize that the majority of the slick rock foreground images were actually from a location labeled as Secret Slickrock. All that I knew at the time was that there were numerous photos taken along Oak Creek around the Crescent Moon Picnic Site. So with the sun setting, I rapidly started moving on the trail that ran along the creek looking for the next shot. As I jogged along the creek I notice another photographer had waded across the creek onto some unsubmerged slick rock. It was a shot I wanted, but worried about the risk of falling in the water or losing out on the last remaining sunlight. So I kept heading Eastward and finally came to this shooting location where I found this pool of water in the slick rock to allow a particle reflection.
